First Post

Woo. The first post... okay, here's the rundown on this thing. Its my online portfolio/place-to-show-work-in-progress. I'll stick stuff up here as I'm working on it, be it for Uni, pleasure or actual work. Critique is obviously expected - so feel free to comment (within reason - I don't want to have to get my boots dirty).

First couple of things I'm working on. Just finished phase II of the redesign of www.lifestylebathing.com, the family special-needs bathroom business. Have a browse if you like. Having a problem with a couple of Javascripts not working, so if you know whats causing an "Incorrect Function" error - let me know! Everything on the site has been made by me, all the HTML was hand-coded and has been great learning how to do it all. That and it pays my wages.

I'm also currently working on making my first proper model of a person in Maya. So far the course hasn't really taught us a whole lot, and if I'm honest, I'd hoped to have learned a bit more by now. But thats what you get when you mix loads of people with varying skill levels together. So basically I'm trying to move ahead and teach myself the stuff I'd expected to have learned - in this case, character modelling. Here's a shot of how much I've done so far. Should probably have taken more screenshots during the modelling phase, but this is about an hour work so far. Two images, one of the mesh and one with smoothing preview enabled:

I'm well aware its only half a body right now... so don't mention that if you're going to comment! The hand isn't finished, and I haven't really done much on the leg - but I should be spending some more time on this today, and will hopefully have an update soon.

Elsewhere I've been doing some digital painting. Getting better, at least I think so. Here's the first thing I'm working on. The original file is A3 sized, which is over 4000px wide, so this is a slightly reduced version. Not finished yet, only spent a couple of hours on this one.

Next up is something that randomly popped into my head as I was doodling in Photoshop (I love my CS4 :3) some sort of metal mask type thing...

Thats about it for today, I'll keep everything up to date hopefully.
